LLUIDAS VALE: Two hospitalized after crash

March 30, 2019 0 By Horace Mills

Two men narrowly escaped death this week when a goods truck ran off the roadway and ended up in a precipice at Orange Valley district, located between the communities of Lluidas Vale and Top Hill in St Catherine North West.

The police Corporate Communications Unit stated that, based on information from the Shady Grove Police in Lluidas Vale, the driver, 34-year-old Christon Knight, is still in hospital. He is now in stable condition.

Police said not much information is available about the second man injured.

This is the goods truck that ran off the roadway this week, injuring two men.

Residents said they pulled both men from the truck moments after it crashed about 5:30 Thursday afternoon, March 28.

The two were taken to hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries.

Details of what caused the vehicle to end up in the precipice are still sketchy.

That accident transpired a few days after another truck, which was laden with sugarcane, careened off the relatively narrow roadway in another section of Orange Valley called Honeycomb Rock.

The driver of the sugarcane truck was not injured.

These are photos of the truck involved in the first crash:

This truck crashed earlier this month while heading towards Worthy Park Sugar Estate in Lluidas Vale

In the meantime, the sugarcane truck crashed in the same area where two students of Lluidas Vale Primary School – Domonic Slue and Raldon Ramsey – lost their lives in an accident on March 1 last year. The boys were killed when the bicycle they were riding in the direction of Lluidas Vale town centre crashed with a bus heading uphill.
