LINSTEAD: Woman appeals for missing lover who left to sell car in Mobay
November 5, 2019A resident of Linstead in St Catherine has disappeared after leaving his home reportedly to sell a motor car in Montego Bay, St James.
He is Rohan Myrie, 34.
He originally is from Spanish Town in St Catherine, but has been living in Linstead with his girlfriend and son since February this year.
His expectant girlfriend, Sherina Martin, said she last spoke with him on Friday, November 1.
She told The Beacon that the car Myrie intended to sell is a ‘white old-shape Toyota’ made in about 1990.
She added: “He called me after 5PM [last Friday], saying he is going to Montego Bay to sell his car. The last time we spoke was in the night, and he said he didn’t reach Mobay as yet when he called back at 8:29PM [Friday].”
The girlfriend further explained that she told her stepson to call his father about 10 o’clock Friday night.
“His son called his two phones and never get him,” the girlfriend explained, adding that Myrie would usually return his son’s phone call. He hasn’t done so on this occasion.
The girlfriend further said Myrie’s relatives also have been trying to contact him – without success.
She noted that, some time after 7PM on Saturday, a strange person answered Myrie’s telephone when a relative called. The person who answered, however, reportedly told the relative not to call the number again.
Myrie, a truck driver for a construction company in the Portmore area of St Catherine, also has not reported to his workplace.
His girlfriend told The Beacon that the sequence of events is highly unusual.
“It is very very very unusual,” she said emphatically. “As matter of fact, all of his other relatives are reaching out to me, trying to get information to help find him and stuff like that… Everybody is sad,” she further declared.
She added that Myrie, who is of dark complexion, is about five feet four inches tall. When last seen, he was wearing grey T-Shirt, black pants, and a pair of black shoes.
The girlfriend, in the meantime, urged anyone knowing the whereabouts of Myrie to contact the nearest police station. “We just need him to come home safe to his family,” she said.
She also stated that a missing person report was made at Linstead Police Station on Saturday. However, up to publication time, the police had not made a public appeal for Myrie.
When contacted regarding the matter, the Corporate Communications Unit of the police force stated that it was having a difficulty reaching Linstead Police Station via phone for information regarding the disappearance.
