LINSTEAD: NWA urges caution as motorist damage traffic signal

August 1, 2019 0 By Horace Mills

The National Works Agency (NWA) has announced that the traffic signals at the intersection of Linstead Bypass and Church Road in St Catherine are out of operation.

It said motorists should approach the intersection with caution and come to a full stop, adding that, under the circumstances, no one has the right of way.

Senior Communications Officer at the NWA, Ramona Lawson, said a motorist drove into the signal cabinets at the location on Tuesday, July 30, damaging the cables that operate the traffic lights.

She further stated that a total replacement of the damaged equipment is required.

An estimate is being prepared for the repairs, but a timeline to undertake the works has not yet been determined, the NWA added.
