The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said no charge has yet been laid in relation to the killing of St Ann businesswoman Janet Hardie-Lawrence at her home in Tower Isles, St Mary, on Tuesday morning, May 28.

Her husband, who is a police officer, was taken into custody on the day of the incident.

He is still in custody, the JCF told The Beacon this evening through its Corporate Communications Unit.

It did not disclose what was holding up a decision as to whether charge will be laid.

Following the deadly shooting, investigators recovered a service pistol and a licensed firearm – both belonging to the police officer.

They also found 12 spent casings.

The couple, which was having relationship issues for some times, reportedly had a heated argument at the time of the killing.
