Dalton depressed, but hopeful

While stating that he is ‘a little depressed’ whenever he is travelling back to his homeland Jamaica, fast-rising Reggae artiste Dalton Harris said he has learnt that plans are afoot to have him ‘bottled’ during his performance at Reggae Sumfest, which will be held in St James from July 14 to 20.

The artiste, who won the X-Factor UK competition in December last year, faced heavy criticism mainly from some of his Jamaican fans after a photo surfaced, showing him sitting on the lap of a male X-Factor contestant. He subsequently declared that he is not homosexual.

In a social media post yesterday, the artiste, who spends most time in Britain these days, suggested that the aforementioned controversy is still causing discomfort.

“Even when I get the hate and the remarks of people planning on stoning me at Reggae Sumfest, or calling me some name that couldn’t be more inaccurate to who I am, the love from my fans worldwide is incredible. This is bigger than the social media bullying and me. This is God at work,” he said, adding that he loves his country.

“Today is one of those days – one of those days where I recalibrate my mind and reflect. Scared AF, but also very excited. I realized I have nothing to lose but myself, and [I] have a bright future ahead of me and an awesome present because I am watching my journey unfold and it is magical. I always get a little depressed when going back to Jamaica – just a little. Working on that. I love my country and my new home also.”

The artiste, who, in an earlier post, stated that he is contending with ‘anxiety and depression’, recently released his ‘Guitar Cry’ single. He also indicated that a documentary about his life is in the making.

This is one of two posts Dalton Harris made on social media this week stating that he is ‘depression’.

Dalton, on previous occasions, stated that he was the victim of physical abuse during his childhood.
