Cop shot dead at bar in Kingston

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is mourning the death of a member who gunmen murdered on Giltress Street in Kingston 2 before daybreak today, May 8.

The deceased is 33-year-old Constable Toddmar Allen, who was attached to the Mobile Reserve, and was originally from Westmoreland.

The JCF said: “Reports from the Rollington Town Police are that, about 12:15AM, Constable Allen was among patrons at a bar in the area when two men armed with guns approached and opened fire at him.

“The police were summoned and Allen was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead,” added the JCF, which noted that investigations are ongoing.

It stated that anyone with pertinent information should contact the Major Investigation Division at 876-758-5048, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.

In the meantime, other sources have told The Beacon that Constable Allen drove his motorcar to the bar, which is relatively near Rollington Town Police Station.

While inside the business establishment, he ordered a drink.

Two gunmen entered the bar and said ‘don’t move’. They then fired about three shots.

Constable Allen ran towards Rollington Town Police Station, where he fired a shot and collapsed, the source further said.

He was taken to Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
