12 SHOTS | Husband of slain woman allegedly wanted $38MMay 29, 2019
The husband of slain businesswoman Janet Hardie allegedly wanted more than $38 million as part of an apparent break-up deal, a sister of the deceased has indicated.
Hardie, who owns a house in the Steer Town area of St Ann, was shot dead yesterday morning at her matrimonial home in Tower Isle, St Mary – not far from Ocho Rios.
The sister, who uses the name Jamelia Stephens on social media, blasted the husband who police are yet to charge.
“You wanted 38 million, half of Steer Town, the house in Tower Isles, and half of her business… You didn’t get it, so you gave her 12 gunshots,” she claimed while describing the late Hardie as a mentor and backbone to her family.
The sister further stated that Hardie’s family never like the husband initially.
“You are a coward; my sister was just too brave and courageous. From the first day we met you, everybody hated you, but we wanted our sister to be happy, so we prayed and accepted you,” the sister added.
She, in the meantime, stated that Hardie left a lasting impact on many people.
“My heart is torn apart. You (Hardie) loved and cared for everybody. You set a impact; you are a role model; and your legacy lives forever…. Amma make you proud sister. Give me a dream so I know you [are] OK. I know you are in Heaven; am going to make it right so we will meet again…” the sister continued.
She stated that Hardie’s mother has a heart problem, and had no clue she would have ended up burying her daughter. “We have a small family but you (Hardie) had many friends,” the sister further said.
Hardie had an amazing rise from selling on a stall to the ownership of a plaza in the St Ann capital. She has two sons, but the first one has been missing since 2002.
