Funeral Date Announced For 3 Siblings Who Died In Fire [Video Included]

WATCH ABOVE: A comprehensive report on the candlelight vigil that was held in January to mark the ninth night after the death of the children.

The remains of three siblings who died in a house fire at Walkerswood in St Ann will be laid to rest on Saturday, 24 May 2025, said Bonita Roach, a grand-aunt of the late trio.

She told The Beacon that interment will take place at Walkerswood Cemetery subsequent to a service of thanksgiving scheduled for 11AM at Walkerswood Baptist Church.

The deceased are two-year-old Tavarno Mattis, four-year-old Tashawnie Mattis and seven-year-old Tashawna Mattis. All three died in one room during the pre-dawn blaze on Sunday, January 12.

They had another sibling, who escaped the inferno as he was staying with his maternal grandmother in another room on the same building that went up in flames.

It is understood that all of the children were left in the care of their grandmother by their mom who was spending the night elsewhere on the island.

The Jamaica Fire Brigade is yet to openly state what caused the fire.
