The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said a high-powered rifle was among two firearms seized in separate operations on Thursday (June 21) in the parishes of St Catherine and Westmoreland.

The rifle, an AK47, was found during an operation in Dela Vega City, Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Elaborating on that find, the JCF said: “Reports are that, about 3:30pm, a police team was conducting operations in the Board Villa area when the weapon was found hidden in bushes.”

Earlier in the day, about 11:45am, the other gun was seized at Bethel Town, Westmoreland.

The JCF explained: “Reports received are that the police were conducting a search of a premises when a Hi-Tec .45 pistol, fitted with an empty magazine, was found under a culvert.”

Non one was arrested in connection with either of the finds. The JCF said investigations are continuing. File photo
