Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has dipped below 11 seconds for the first time since she became a mother in August, winning the 100 Metre at the London Diamond League today, July 21.

She was the only athlete in the race to run below 11 seconds.

She later commented that her goal has been achieved. “Did what I needed to do! 10.98 seconds,” 31-year-old Fraser-Pryce posted on social media.

The Independent newspaper quoted her as saying: “I’m so excited, that is so good.

“I took the time off, I didn’t pay any attention to what others said about my comeback. I continued to work hard, and London is definitely the best place, and to come here and win with my first sub-11 is fantastic,” the sprinter added.

Her time has been improving with each race since she returned to the track in May after she gave birth to a baby boy, Zyon Pryce.

The other Jamaican in the race, Jonielle Smith, finished third with 11.07 seconds.

The second place finisher is Dezerea Bryant of the United States, with 11.04 seconds.
