Workers worried as Marksman loses big contract

Workers worried as Marksman loses big contract

February 18, 2019 0 By Horace Mills

Several security guards employed to Marksman Limited are pondering their fate after their employer lost a major contract to provide security services at several properties operated by the state-owned Urban Development Corporation (UDC).

Reports reaching The Beacon are that the security firm lost its contract to Quest Security Services in a tender process.

The rates Quest presented in its bid are said to be lower than Marksman’s.

It is not the first time that the UDC is changing its security provider after a tender process. Marksman, a few year ago, replaced Atlas Security.

A number of Marksman security guards who usually work at UDC properties – including the world-famous Dunn’s River Falls and Green Grotto Caves in St Ann – said they have been told to report to Marksman offices this week.

They expect to be told if their services will be terminated.

When contacted, Human Resources Manager at Marksman Limited, Alrick Russell, said he will be in a better position to speak with The Beacon about the developments later this week.

We will have more on this developing story.
