Soldier murdered during clash with 3 gunmen in Linstead

A soldier from the Jamaica Defence Force was shot dead during a confrontation with three gunmen at Banbury district in Linstead, St Catherine, shortly before 9 o’ clock last evening, July 10.

He is 30-year-old David Howard, otherwise called Speedy, from Kingston 11.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) told Jamaica Beacon that the soldier was at Banbury speaking with two females when three masked gunmen appeared.

The gunmen then robbed the victims, the JCF further said.

A struggle ensued and Howard was shot. He died on the spot, added the JCF.

Linstead is among communities in St Catherine North Police Division that are under a state of public emergency.
