Second man charged with murder in Cassava Piece

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said a second suspect has been charged in relation to the murder of Lorenzo Thomas at Cassava Piece district in St Andrew on June 5.

He is 23-year-old Andre Hinds, a labourer from Cassava Piece.

Hinds is charged with Murder, Conspiracy to Murder, Arson, Shooting with Intent, Illegal Possession of Firearm, and Illegal Possession of Ammunition, the JCF said.

It also stated that Hinds is to appear in the Corporate Area Criminal Court today, June 18.

Meanwhile, a juvenile, who is the son of a popular Dancehall artiste, recently was slapped with similar charges in relation to the same crime. He too will appear in court.

The JCF reported that, about 3:30am on June 5, gunmen kicked open the door to a house occupied by Thomas, otherwise called ‘Israel’ or ‘Trulups’.

They shot Thomas, used a machete to inflict several chop wounds, and also set him ablaze.
