Amid a candlelight vigil being held this evening, family and friends of a young accountant are still trying to come to terms with his murder that unfolded a week ago.

Vaughn Rennalls, 30, from Above Rocks in St Catherine, was shot dead on Parks Road in the Lawrence Tavern area of St Andrew.

It is said that Rennalls, pictured above, was employed to the Office of the Prime Minister.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said another man was also shot and wounded in the incident.

It added: “Reports are that, about 9:55PM [on Friday, August 16], both persons were standing among a group of persons when a lone man rode up on a bicycle and opened fire. Both persons who were shot several times were taken to hospital where Reynolds was pronounced dead and the other man admitted in serious condition.”

The Constant Spring Criminal Investigations Bureau is investigating, added the JCF.

In the meantime, civilian sources told The Beacon that, on the evening in question, Rennalls dropped his mother home from work.

He then went to Parks Road to purchase jerk chicken, the sources further said. That’s when he was shot dead.
