More than a cave

More than a cave

This small cave has been housing a natural spring since time immemorial.

The spring is a vital source of potable water for some residents of a rural community called Cock Crow, which is located in the Top Hill area of St Catherine North West, near the Clarendon border.

The number of people relying on the spring has declined over the years, but it remains a loyal source – almost never running dry.

Area residents call the entire structure ‘Grotto,’ which is defined as a small picturesque cave – especially one that is artificial.

There is, however, nothing artificial about the ‘Grotto’ pictured here.
