Man shot in alleged shootout with cops

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said a man was shot and wounded and a firearm taken from him during a confrontation with police at Greenwich Park Road on Saturday, July 14.

It said reports from the Denham Town police are that, about 3:05pm, a team was on mobile patrol in the area when it allegedly was greeted with gunfire from a group of men.

“The police returned fire and one man was hit and found clutching a Sig Sauer pistol with a magazine containing three .45 cartridges,” the JCF said. “The firearm and ammunition were seized and the injured man admitted at hospital for treatment.”

The JCF further stated that the other men escaped in the area. Investigations are continuing.
