The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said its officers are searching for a prisoner who allegedly escaped from Kingston Public Hospital this morning, September 26.

He is 50-year-old Eric Banner, otherwise called Whites, whose last known address is West Cumberland in Portmore, St Catherine.

The JCF said: “Banner was arrested and charged on Friday, June 8, with the offences of shooting with intent, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

“He was subsequently charged on Saturday, June 9 with possession of counterfeit notes.”

The JCF further said, based on reports, Banner, who was admitted to the hospital, reportedly escaped about 6 o’ clock.

“Residents are being reminded that it is an offence to harbour criminals and [they] can be charged criminally for such action,” the JCF noted.

“The police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist in the investigation to contact the Hunts Bay Police at 876-923-7111, police emergency 119 number, Crime Stop at 311, 811 or the nearest police station.”
