A teenager has been left without a mother after a gun murder last evening (March 10) in the Victoria area of Linstead, St Catherine.

The victim is 33-year-old shopkeeper Verona Slack, also called Trudy, from Victoria district.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), through its communications arm, told The Beacon that unknown assailants shot Slack about 9:30PM while she was walking home.

This is the grocery shop that 33-year-old Verona ‘Trudy’ Slack operated up to 9:30PM yesterday when she was shot dead while on her way home in the Victoria area of Linstead, St Catherine. The business, located at Zephyrton in Linstead, was closed all day today.

Residents heard the explosions and called the police, who found Slack with a gunshot wound to the upper body, the JCF added.

Other sources have told The Beacon that the woman was shot in the head, adding that she was returning home from a shop she operates elsewhere in Linstead. A handbag she was carrying is reportedly missing.

The JCF said persons with information about the murder should contact the Linstead Police at 876-985-9070.
