Linstead Health Centre Hit By COVID

Operation at the Linstead Health Centre in St. Catherine has been disrupted for today, August 24, after a healthcare worker at the facility tested positive for the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) confirmed that the employee received the positive test result last evening.

Workers at the health centre have expressed concern that the authorities were not moving swiftly enough to address their concerns and to have them tested following the confirmed case.

“They have us at work sitting down looking like it is not a serious problem,” one worker told The Beacon. “I have family to think about and we being here is a big risk to all of us.”

Another employee added: “The state of the health centre building is deplorable, and no mask is provided for workers.”

Linstead Health Centre is the point for COVID-19 testing in the Linstead area, which is among places hit by the highly contagious and potentially deadly virus.
