Driver charged after ‘dangerous driving’ kills woman, injures child

The Spanish Town Traffic Department in St Catherine has charged a man with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving following a motor vehicle accident on Morrison Street in the old capital on Tuesday, March 26.

The accused is 26-year-old Major-Mark Bennett from Henry Morgan Avenue in Kingston 11.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said: “Reports are that, about 5:40PM, Bennett was driving a Mitsubishi Fuso Truck along Morrison Street when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with 37-year-old Diana Taylor and her 3-year-old daughter – both of Morrison Street.

“Taylor and her daughter were taken to hospital where Taylor was pronounced dead and her daughter admitted in a stable condition,” the JCF said, adding that a court date will be announced for the accused driver.
