Crawle River Football Club has advanced to the final of the Horace Dalley Insport Football League in Clarendon Northern, and is sending a strong message that it will go all out to lift the all-important champion’s trophy.
The team secured a 2-1 win over Jericho Gunnaz in an enthralling clash, which unfolded at the sun-drenched Croft’s Hill Housing Scheme playing field on Sunday afternoon, May 12.
Leon Maduro is the man who first touched the score card, pushing Crawl River ahead in the 47th minute. But Javian Thompson found the equalizer for Jericho 13 minutes later with a kick from the penalty spot.
In the 68th minute, Keno Allen netted the crucial ball that sent Crawle River into celebration mode.
A member of the winning management team, Carol Robinson, told The Beacon that, although a bigger margin of victory could have been secured, she is pleased with the team’s performance.
“In the first half, we outplayed them, but in the second half we had a few lapses. Overall, I think the guys did their best,” she said.
Robinson added that Crawle River will head back to the drawing board, and will be ready to defeat the other finalist – One Connection.
“Come the final, we are going to regroup; it is going to be one of our better day,” she said.
She also gave The Beacon a strong message to deliver to One Connection.
“Tell them we are coming and we are not coming to lose; we are coming to win. Tell them the grass on our side is very green,” Robinson further posited.
