Cop among 2 being investigated after drug bust

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said a police officer from the corporate area and another man are being investigated in relation to the seizure of approximately one kilogram of cocaine and more than JA$1 million in cash.

The find was made on Friday (November 9) during an operation along the Porus main road in Manchester.

The JCF, which did not disclose the names of the persons arrested, said: “Facts are that, about 4:20pm, a Toyota motor car was intercepted by the police along the roadway which was being driven by a police corporal from the corporate area. He was in the company of another male.

“During a search of the policeman, the other man and the vehicle, the illicit drug and cash were found. Both the drug and the cash were seized and the men taken into custody,” added the JCF.

It said further information will be provided.
