LLUIDAS VALE: Clinic likely to be relocated to church property

Top level discussions are underway to have the Lluidas Vale Clinic in St Catherine relocated from the current rented premises to a church property in the community.

The talks are cordial and an agreement is highly likely to be made soon, The Beacon has learnt.

When contacted, Councillor for the Lluidas Vale Division, Hugh Graham, admitted that progress is being made as it relates to his long-time promise to find a new home for the clinic, which he said will start offering mental health and counselling services.

He further stated that the matter of relocating the medical facility was discussed recently at a Constituency Development Fund meeting.

Not much more information, however, has been forthcoming about the proposed new location.

Graham, in relation to the clinic’s current home, told The Beacon: “As you know, anything you put there on a rented facility; you have to leave it [when you are leaving]. So you can’t do any further development on it. We were thinking about putting a wall outside – removing the zinc and all of that, spending all of that money and you still would have to find a permanent home. There is no potential to develop the clinic at the present location.”

Graham further stated that, about two years ago, he, in a joint project with the Ministry of Health, carried out some repair works on the clinic – including the bathroom facilities.
