A youngster is in police custody for the death of his 23-year-old uncle Omar Bryan, otherwise called Banks.

The uncle, who is a security guard, died of a knife injury he received during a dispute with the nephew shortly before 9PM on Wednesday, October 30, in the West Prospect area of Bog Walk, St Catherine.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) told The Beacon that the suspect is to be interrogated to help determine what – if any – charge is to be laid.

Details of the incident are still sketchy.

However, sources told The Beacon that the feud actually started between the suspect and a younger brother of the security guard who is now dead.

The security guard allegedly intervened and helped to badly beat the suspect – his sister’s son.

Some relatives quelled the dispute, and escorted the late security guard to his home, located elsewhere in the community.

The security guard allegedly left his home, and went to a location where another round of quarrel ensued between him and his nephew.

It is alleged that the security guard, armed with a piece of stick, stormed towards the nephew, who earlier had been beaten.

That’s when the security guard was stabbed reportedly in the area of the abdomen.

He was pronounced dead at hospital.
