Body with several wounds found in river in Westmoreland

Detectives in Westmoreland are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of a man, whose decomposing body with several wounds was found in the Roaring River at Whithorn in the parish on Saturday, July 14.

In describing the body, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said: “It is of brown complexion, medium build, about 170 (5 feet 7 inches) long, clad in a red and brown shorts, and is believed to be in its mid fifties.”

The JCF said reports from the Whithorn police are that, about 9:40am, residents stumbled upon the body afloat and alerted them.

“On their arrival, it was seen afloat in the river with multiple wounds. The body was fished from the water and the scene processed,” added the JCF.

It, in the meantime, stated that anyone with information that can assist in the investigation or in identifying the body should contact the Savanna-la-Mar Criminal Investigation Bureau at 876- 955-2758, police 119 emergency number, or the nearest police station.
