Aspiring prime minister attains 11 CXC subjects, all Grade Ones and ‘A’ profiles

Michael Forbes, a student of Glenmuir High School in Clarendon, scoffed at predictions that he would have attained the best grade possible (Grade One) in the 11 CSEC subjects he sat this year.

He not only fulfilled the prediction; he scored straight ‘A’ profiles in all the subjects.

Preliminary results from the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) show that the resident of Old Harbour in St Catherine achieved the following:

Additional Mathematics – Grade One
Mathematics – Grade One

Economics – Grade One

English A – Grade One
English B (Literature) – Grade One

Spanish – Grade One

Biology – Grade One
Chemistry – Grade One

Physics – Grade One

Religious Education – Grade One
Information Technology – Grade One

Forbes, who has enrolled in the sixth form programme at Glenmuir High, is pleasantly shocked.

“I was very shocked by my results, especially the straight ‘A’ profiles for everything,” he told The Beacon.

“Throughout the school year, my friends kept telling me I’d get all Grade Ones, but I always brushed them off, saying that’s too good to be true. However, God came through with even more than that.”

Forbes wants to study psychology.

The thought of him eventually occupying the island’s highest political office is also not far-fetched.

“I would really like to help Jamaica in some great way. I am mulling over the idea of becoming the prime minister one day. I am sure it is not an easy task to take on,” he posited.

Forbes, in the meantime, was involved in the Debate Society, Red Cross Society, and Quiz Club at Glenmuir High.

His parents are Shelly Plunkett-Forbes and Michael Forbes.
