American fugitive arrested in Jamaica

A 23-year-old American fugitive, who is wanted on an extradition warrant for drug-related offences and homicide in the United States, has been caught in Jamaica.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said the man arrested yesterday, March 13, is Isaiah Benjamin Stewart from Windmeadows Boulevard Apartments in Gainesville, Florida.

The arrest was carried out by the JCF’s Lottery Scamming Taskforce, supported by the Jamaica Fugitive Apprehension Team, as well as the Special Weapons and Tactics Team.

The JCF said: “Reports are that, between the hours of 2AM and 5AM, officers carried out a special operation on Hopewell Road in Darliston, Westmoreland, where a premises was searched and Stewart was found and arrested.”

Stewart is awaiting an extradition hearing, the JCF further said.
