A Westmoreland community has been plunged into grief and shock after the body of a nine-year-old girl was found Tuesday night, and a 13-year-old boy from the same district arrested.
Investigators theorize that Kadijah Saunders from Bog district was strangled.
She was partially nude.
Kadijah, as well as the boy in custody, were enrolled at Newworks Infant and Primary School.
When she did not return home from school on Tuesday, her relatives launched a search for her.
Their hope of finding her alive was dashed after nightfall when members of the search team stumbled upon the child’s corpse in bushes.
The Jamaica Beacon understands that she was last seen allegedly in the company of the boy now in custody.
