6-y-o Dajahne Pennant drowns in flood waters

The six-year-old boy who died after flood waters swept him away in the Mount Claire area of Clarendon yesterday (October 1) has been identified as Dajahne Pennant from Oliver Gardens in May Pen.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said, according to reports from the May Pen Police, Dejahne was on way home with a 13-year-old relative about 3pm.

“They attempted to cross a flooded channel and were swept away by the water. The teen managed to pull herself from the water. However, Dejahne was swept further downstream by the strong current,” said the JCF.

It added: “The police were summoned and a search ensued. His body was later retrieved from the water. Investigations continue.”
