3 gunmen shot dead in Portmore

A licensed firearm holder is at hospital in critical condition after he challenged three would-be robbers in a shootout, killing all of them.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said the attempted robbery took place on a premises at Port Henderson in Portmore, St Catherine, last night, March 13.

It further stated that law-enforcers seized one Berretta 9 millimetre pistol with a magazine containing seventeen 9 millimetre rounds of ammunition.

The JCF said: “Reports from the Portmore Police are that, about 9:15pm, the licensed firearm holder drove into the premises when he was attacked by three armed men who opened fire hitting him. The licensed firearm holder returned gunfire and the assailants were shot.

“The police were alerted and all four persons were taken to hospital where the gunmen were pronounced dead and the licensed firearm holder admitted in serious condition,” added the JCF, which noted that investigations are continuing.
