Police arrested for robbing couple of $700K in Portland

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said a suspended police constable, who was stationed in St Thomas, has been arrested in relation to a robbery less than 24 hours after the crime was perpetrated at Forte district, Portland.

A total of four robbers took approximately $700,000 from a couple.

The JCF explained: “It is alleged that he (the police constable) was one of four men who held up the couple as they returned home from a party about 3:15am on Tuesday, July 17.

“He was fingered during preliminary investigations and swiftly taken into custody. His identity is being withheld at this time,” the JCF further said.

It stated that, as the search continues for the other suspected robbers, it is appealing for residents to share any information that can assist investigators.
