The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said a man has been arrested and charged following the seizure of an illegal firearm on Old Hope Road, Kingston 6, yesterday, September 27.

Daniel Grant, a 29-year-old maintenance worker from Mountain View Avenue in Kingston 3, is charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

The JCF said, based on reports from the Papine police, officers were conducting mobile patrol in the area about 2pm when they accosted Grant, who was acting in a manner that aroused the cops’ suspicion of him.

“He was searched and the firearm and ammunition was found inside a knapsack he was carrying,” the JCF claimed.

It added that the gun is a 9 millimetre Browning pistol, with a magazine containing fourteen 9 millimetre cartridges.

Grant is scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Gun Court on Friday, October 12.
