The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said a Greek national and former General Manager of an all-inclusive hotel in Trelawny was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston for financial crimes yesterday, July 16.
The man, who is also the holder of a Jamaican and an American passport, arrived in the island about 7:40pm, and was nabbed by investigators from the Constabulary Financial Unit and the Financial Investigations Division.
The JCF said: “His arrest emanated from an intense investigation into several fraudulent activities involving two major banking institutions. He reportedly acquired several credit facilities from these institutions using different Taxpayer Registration Numbers and names. These activities go as far back as 2010.”
The JCF further stated that the man will be interviewed in the presence of his attorney, following which the following charges will be proffered:
Obtaining credit by false pretense
Obtaining money by false pretense
Breaches of the Revenue Administration Act
The JCF did not disclose the name of the suspect, but noted that investigations are continuing.
