Entertainer’s son charged with murder in Cassava Piece

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said the 16-year-old son of a Dancehall entertainer has been charged with Murder following an incident this month in Cassava Piece, St Andrew.

The minor, whose identity cannot be legally disclosed in this instance, is also charged with Conspiracy to Murder, Illegal Possession of Firearm, Illegal Possession of Ammunition, Arson, and Shooting with Intent.

He is to appear in court on June 18.

The JCF said another suspect, who was held in connection with the investigation, is still in custody, but his identity is being withheld pending further investigations.

The police, in the meantime, said charges laid against the teen are in relation to the murder of Lorenzo Thomas on June 5 in Cassava Piece district.

The JCF said reports are that, about 3:30am, armed men kicked open the door to a house occupied by Lorenza Thomas, otherwise called ‘Israel’ or ‘Trulups’.

They shot Thomas, used a machete to inflict several chop wounds, and also set him ablaze.
