The JCF said the men were discovered missing during a cell check about 6:50pm yesterday. They reportedly escaped by cutting through a metal grill.

The Inspectorate of the Constabulary has commenced a probe into the incident.

The JCF further stated that anyone with information that can lead to the recapture of Powell and Burton should contact the Half Way Tree police at 926-8184, Crime Stop at 311, police 119 emergency number, or the nearest police station.

“The police are also reminding the public that it is a criminal offence to harbour a fugitive,” the JCF noted.
