24-year-old charged with seven counts of fraud against slain couple

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said a resident of Mount Pleasant in Portland has been charged with seven counts of fraud and conspiracy to defraud the returning residents who were murdered in Mount Pleasant on June 22.

The accused is 24-year-old Saquino Farr, who is to appear before the Portland Parish Court next week Tuesday.

It is being alleged that Farr’s mother worked for the victims.

Head of the Corporate Communication Unit of the JCF, Assistant Superintendent of Police Dahlia Garrick, told Jamaica Beacon that the man has not been charged for the double murder, which is still being probed.

The JCF, last month, reported that a suspect was nabbed at a business establishment in Kingston in relation to the homicides. It did not disclose the suspect’s name.

The returning residents murdered at their Mount Pleasant home are 75-year-old Halford Anderson also called Charlie, and his 71-year-old wife Florence Anderson also known as Gayle.

“Mr Anderson’s body was seen outside partially burnt, and the wife’s body was also seen outside with multiple wounds,” the JCF previously said.

The couple lived in England for decades prior to relocating to Jamaica about a year ago.

Mrs Anderson had complained to the police that she was a victim of a credit card scam. According to the British press, the amount lost in the scam is about JA$8 million.
