Police have arrested two women and two men in relation to the seizure of 10 illegal guns, which law enforcers believe were smuggled into Jamaica from the United States.

According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), the items seized at a wharf in Kingston about 5:30 yesterday morning (October 3) are:

– One sub-machine gun

– Nine 9 millimetre pistols

– 640 assorted rounds of ammunition

– One silencer

According to the JCF, the find resulted from a joint operation by its officers based at the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigations Branch and the Narcotics Division, with support from the Contraband Enforcement Team of Jamaica Customs.

“Preliminary investigations are indicating the weapons and ammunition were reportedly shipped to Jamaica from the United States of America,” the JCF added.

This case brings back memories of the November 2017 seizure of 119 illegal guns and more than 200 rounds of ammunition. They were found in barrels at the Miami International Airport and were destined to Jamaica.

UPDATE: 16 more guns found at wharf | total reaches 26
