Norman Hinds has not forgotten his roots in the Duhaney Pen area of Morant Bay, St Thomas.

His foundation, on August 24, hosted its second annual back-to-school fair in the community, benefitting more than 50 children.

“The Norman Hinds Foundation back-to-school treat was a success,” Hinds said. “The children were looking forward to it so much that some of them reached the venue as early as 8 o’clock in the morning when the actual starting time was 3 o’clock. They didn’t leave.”

The items distributed included school bags and books.

“The foundation, which is driven by the motto ‘a life spent giving is a life worth living,’ is a registered non-profit organization, which has its eyes set on other projects,” said Hinds, who is also the Assistant Pastor of Bethany Church of God in Christ at Duhaney Pen.

He further stated that his wife Mitzie, as well as his children Abeo and Zihar, is integrally involved in the foundation, which has been receiving assistance from members of the local business community as well as persons living abroad.

The foundation also collaborates with other organizations in providing assistance to needy people, Hinds told The Beacon.
